Mr. Chua Wee Liang is the Executive Director and Partner of Cowin Asset Management Co. Limited (“Cowin Group”), a leading alternative asset management firm in China with more than US$3 billion in assets under management. At Cowin Group, Mr. Chua assumed responsibility as the Lead Partner in charge of international private equity business. He is also the Managing Partner for Cowin Group’s USD denominated Private Equity Funds, which focus on investing in the technology and healthcare sectors.

Prior to joining Cowin Group, Mr. Chua was the Greater China Head of Private Equity for Singapore OCBC Bank based out of Shanghai, PRC. He was also concurrently the Head of Global Investment Banking, China for OCBC Bank. Mr. Chua possesses over 20 years of private equity and investment banking experience in Asia, of which 15 years was spent in China.

Mr. Chua oversaw the development and growth of OCBC private equity business in the Greater China region between 2011 and 2017. Under his leadership, OCBC Bank (including OCBC Capital, the wholly-owned fund management subsidiary) has been consistently ranked amongst the Top Foreign Private Equity Firms in China.

Prior to OCBC Bank, Mr. Chua was the Chief Representative for DBS Private Equity Group in China and also the General Manager and Legal Representative of DBS Private Equity Enterprise, the direct investment subsidiary of DBS Bank.

Earlier in year 2001, Mr. Chua was the Founding General Manager of a Sino-Foreign Joint Venture Fund (known as Zhongxin VC Fund), a partnership between Singapore-headquartered United Overseas Bank Group and Shenzhen Capital Group (the largest state-backed Venture Capital Investment Firm in China).

Mr. Chua holds an Executive MBA from the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS), a post-graduate Diploma in Finance and Management from Manchester Business School and a Bachelor of Engineering (1st Class Honors) majoring in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Surrey, UK. He had also attended Senior Executive Development Programs from Shanghai JiaoTong University, Harvard Business School, Tsinghua University, INSEAD Business School, and Singularity University (EP on Exponential Technologies).
